Clam
There are many kinds of clam ocean life. A clam can be long or narrow, wide and think, smooth and have ridges. Clams can have hard shells or soft shells.
Which parts of the clam can we eat?
A clam's muscles, siphon, and foot are edible. Clams are generally sweet and a little chewy.
Clam Facts
Clams are scavengers ocean life as are oysters, crabs, snails, shrimps, eels, and catfish. Mussels are ocean life that live on the rocks near the shore of the ocean. Clams (and also mussels alike) are filter feeders, filtering out microscopic plants and ocean life floating in the ocean. Clams move about by using a hatchet-shaped foot to creep along. Effectively, clams can walk on foot, dig into sand, drift in the ocean, or swim. Clams and mussels take ocean water into their shells and feed on the plankton in the water.
Razor clams
Razor clams are long and thin. Razor clams are named as such because their bodies shape like a razor and their shells are sharp.
